Meditation and Memorization Passages for 2014

                                                       The Gospels

Why do we encourage each of us to meditate and memorize Scripture?  In part, because it is a reminder of great truths that, when internalized, strengthens us.  The other part is that, if indeed the word of God is our final authority, then it makes sense to go to it first, instead of last for the challenges of life.  By having it already a part of who we are, it saves us time, anxiety, worry and poor decisions.  One passage a month is all that we ask.  It will prove to be an outstanding investment of your time!

Memory Passage for August 2014

John 1:1-5

New International Version (NIV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

January                   Matthew 6:9-13

This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
