1 Corinthians 1:4-9 (NIV)
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Isn’t nice to know that because of God’s grace into our lives, through the work of Christ on the Cross, we have been enriched in every way.
The Apostle Paul reassures the church at Corinth, and through them us, that what we need for the abundant life as followers of Christ, we have. It is not by our own doing, but by the unmerited gift of God called grace. We are reminded in this short passage that our lives are better, stronger and much more fulfilled when we allow our Savior to be large and in-charge of our lives!
Not only will you and I be equipped to do God’s bidding, but we have been called into fellowship with Him. Imagine fellowship with the God of the Universe. It isn’t like we have self-invited ourselves into this relationship - He invites us (verse 9) !
The God who spoke and the Universe came into existence. He spoke and mankind found its beginning (Genesis 1).
The God who is “seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” The God who is worthy of our worship, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory. At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook….” (Isaiah 6).
That is the God who has invited us to fellowship with Him. You and I who are nothing more than a “speck on a speck” in the whole Universe of His handiwork. Yet, the invitation comes to us individually, with our name on it, with His majestic seal securing it. With our God, it is personal, as personal as the giving of His One and Only Son. It is like He reaches down from His throne in heaven and hand delivers the invitation to fellowship.
It is impossible for me to wrap my finite mind around this whole concept. Ultimately, I don’t need to understand it all, I just need to know that He understands it all!
In His Grace,
